Guest List Stress

Weddings are already stressful when you consider all of the planning, time, and preparation that go into them. When you start to think about the wedding one of the first things that comes up is the guest list. Who to invite, who not to invite, this is where several couples struggle. When you start the guest list there are a few things to keep in mind.

1. The budget. If you budget allows you for 100 guests then stick to that! The budget should always be the first thing you discuss to get a good idea on what to spend.

2. The wild cards. Not all of your family and friends must be invited. If you know that your aunt Angie likes her liquor a little too much and gets out of hand then you don't have to always invite them. Every wedding will have at least 1 or 2 wildcards but in my opinion having more is a gamble.

3. Coworkers vs. Friends. Really think about who your friends are and who are just people in the vicinity. The people you invite to your wedding should be people you plan to have in your life for the foreseen future, inviting coworkers is really not a great idea and something that you will eventually regret.

4. Last time you spoke to them. When thinking of true friends remember if they are true friends you would have spoken with them within the year. Inviting a friend you haven't talked to in 16 months might not be the best idea. On a side not to that, if you were invited to their wedding but it's been a year or more since that event then their is no need to invite them to yours. If you went to their wedding 11 months ago and you are still friends then the right thing to do would be to invite them. The exception to this is if you are no longer friends or if you really must eliminate some people off your list.

5. Agree on everyone. If there is a person that is on the list but one of you is on the fence about them then the safe bet would be not to invite them. It's always best that the bride and groom agree on the entire guest list.

In the end the wedding planner can help you with the guest list if needed. Just remember the tips above and that should hopefully help you with your list!
